There are a few options for styling curly hair. If you are not inclined to spend a lot of time styling your hair keep it simple. A long layered cut may be your best bet because it is easier to control split ends when trimming and the weight of your hair may relax your curl somewhat.
Usually the shorter the hair is cut the curlier it will become because there is less weight to control the hair. However, a well shaped short curly style can look fabulous on a woman with small facial features and a confident attitude, with a little styling product and very little effort.
If your hair is very thick and curly a blunt may not be the answer because the curl creates a triangular shape when the hair is all one length creating a pyramid shape A good cut is very important to control curly hair. Avoid the use of thinning shears or razor cutting.
Thinning shears crush the ends of your hair and razors slice the ends giving split ends a place to start. If your hair is too thick ask your stylist to layer it to remove bulk and improve manageability. Longer layers usually work best on curly hair with a larger less defined curl and can be very flattering when dried naturally or blown dry.
Be honest, let the stylist know if you want to wash and wear. Or if you are willing to use a blow dryer, hot iron, etc. A good stylist can tell you if your expectations are realistic and if a style will work for you.
One thing to keep in mind when determining the length of the finished style is the fact that your hair can be up to one third longer when wet than when dry. A professional stylist will know this.
